Pyramid Mountain

This past week took the crew to Pyramid Mountain, overlooking Lake Chelan. We hiked 7 miles in to camp, in meadows at the foot of our target peak. The following morning, we took our sampling materials and field presses up to the saddle between Pyramid Mountain and Squaretop Mountain. A morning of sampling at a rocky outcropping in this saddle brought us several exciting finds Saxifraga oppositifolia and a plant on Washington's rare species list, which hadn't previously been recorded by the 50 Peaks Project.
The afternoon on top of Pyramid Mountain also included new finds for the project, like Cerastium beeringianum and Cistanthae umbellata. Our trip in total added about 20 miles and 5000 feet of elevation. Legs are feeling strong!
